ClipIR XD range of innovative miniature infrared thermal imagers deliver fused thermal (IR) and intensified imaging when fitted to almost any existing monocular, biocular or binocular night vision devices.
Fusion systems combine unparalleled detection capabilities of thermal imaging with the superior identification abilities of image intensification to equip the user with enhanced situational awareness, particularly in low/no light environments.
The real-time thermal image is injected into the objective lens of the night vision device to deliver fusion or separate display of both sensors.
The fused combination of thermal and night vision provides superior tactical advantages compared to standard night vision or thermal imaging alone, adding the capability of detection of a man target at distances up to 580m.
ClipIR XD has the ability to receive external video with data feeds provided by ATAK (or other similar battle management systems) to deliver the user real-time navigational, tactical and augmented reality (AR) data for enhanced situational awareness and live battlefield information. ClipIR XD has a built-in digital magnetic compass to provide azimuth and elevation displayed via the NVG.
ClipIR XD utilises Thermoteknix patented shutterless XTi technology for exceptional thermal image quality and silent operation without any moving parts. XTi technology provides the ClipIR XD with 60Hz framerate at ultra-low latency which avoids user fatigue or motion effects, a rapid start-up time to image, and does not require the thermal camera non-uniformity calibration prior to or during use regardless of ambient temperature or operating hours – a requirement present in competitor products.
ClipIR XD provides a 40° field of view that matches the full field of view of most night vision devices, crucial in close combat situations and on patrol when situational awareness on either side of the wearer’s direct vision is essential for threat detection.
All ClipIR XD functions are controlled using its unique, multifunction scroll wheel. Capable of operation when mounted on either side of the night vision goggle, and operated in all environments with or without gloves, the ClipIR XD is intuitive with minimum training burden. Multiple thermal fusion modes are available including 'Full Thermal', 'Outline', 'Contour' and 'Pulse' modes.
ClipIR XD-B can be powered internally using one single AA battery to provide over 3 hours of use. Alternatively, external power can be provided by Thermoteknix head or helmet mounted battery packs to enable over 24 hours of continuous use.
ClipIR XD-E is operated using external power provided by Thermoteknix head or helmet mounted battery packs to enable over 24 hours of continuous use.
ClipIR XD is attached to existing night vision devices using the supplied mounting bracket. ClipIR is compatible with NiCAM-14, NiCAM-7, NiCAM-31, PVS-14, PVS-7, PVS-31, PVS-15, PVS-18, PVS-23, PVS-24, VV Lite, MUM-14, Kestrel, XACT, NYX, NX-122, MINIMUS, F5050, F5032, BNVD, UNS-SR, MINIMON, and others.
