Company Profile
Thermoteknix Systems Limited designs, develops and manufactures thermal imaging and measuring equipment used in world-wide commercial systems, industrial, security and surveillance applications.
The company was founded in 1982 and retains its position at the forefront of the infrared imaging industry with a wide range of hardware and software products designed to meet the needs of a growing customer base.
The company is privately owned and operates from premises in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. It has been recognised by The Queen’s Awards both for Export and Innovation and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Candidate
We are looking to recruit a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to work in our busy R&D hardware department. This position will be based at our Head Office in Waterbeach, just North of Cambridge. The company sees this as a key appointment and excellent opportunity for the right individual.
Work Profile
The post involves a wide variety of FPGA design tasks supporting infrared system design. Thermoteknix use Verilog for design on a range of FPGA and SOC devices (Xilinx, MicroSemi, Lattice, Altera).
The primary area of work is a large SOC project for new infrared camera products. You will be working on every phase of the design from concept through to delivery of a working system. The design will need to meet functional requirements, minimise power and support testability. As well as developing Verilog code, you will be expected to work with software engineers to help develop drivers and application software and will need to work with hardware engineers to evaluate devices, agree constraints and support testing.
Other tasks may include smaller FPGA and CPLD designs as well as feature additions to existing products.
Academic Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with 'A' level grades (A or B) plus a degree in Electronics or Physics (or the equivalent).
Experience Required
The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of significant experience in FPGA design and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the principals involved. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams on fast paced projects is expected. A good understanding of the interaction between the FPGA, software and hardware design disciplines is required. Knowledge of high level synthesis is advantageous.
Other important qualities include a good academic background and the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new areas.
