We pride ourselves on being a friendly and successful, hi-tech, innovative Cambridge based company, supplying a world-wide market. We are a medium sized company engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of hardware and software for the thermal imaging and Industrial infrared sectors.

Thermoteknix designs and manufactures infrared cameras and modules for security, aerospace, military, and industrial applications. Products range from turn-key industrial systems for cement kilns, to miniature infrared cameras for stand-alone product or third party integration into hi-tech surveillance applications.

The company is privately owned and has its headquarters in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. Thermoteknix has been recognised by receiving multiple Queen’s Awards in both Export and Innovation categories and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Who we are looking for

Thermoteknix is looking to recruit a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to work in our busy R&D hardware department, working on a variety of infrared thermal imaging related projects. This position will be based at our Head Office in Waterbeach, just North of central Cambridge.

This role would suit a candidate who wants the challenge and interest of working with a variety of technologies and is happy to immerse themselves in technology areas that may be outside their previous experience i.e. a flexible approach is demanded. A commitment to producing 'right first time' quality products is also essential.

Work Profile

The post is likely to involve undertaking a wide variety of tasks e.g. feasibility studies for new products, circuit design, PCB layout, system integration type projects, maintenance of existing product designs, EMC and Low Voltage product approvals, and production support. The technologies involved are also varied and include general radiometric (infrared) system design, digital design including FPGA’s/CPLD's (language VHDL or Verilog), DSP and microprocessors, precision and video rate analogue design, optoelectronics, small motor control, and power supply design. Experience with SoC solutions would be a bonus.

In addition, we will expect the candidate to be able to contribute significantly to project development, both as a lead technical role and as project manager. Our projects normally involve contributions from our mechanical, software and production engineers and the candidate must have the familiarity/experience with these to be effective in a multidisciplinary team.

Academic Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with 'A' level grades (A or B) plus a degree in Electronics or Physics (or the equivalent).

Experience Required

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the technologies involved in their current experience. Other important qualities include a good academic background and the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new areas. A demonstrable commitment to producing 'right first time' quality work is essential.
