NO AGENCIES. ONLY APPLICANTS WITH A RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Company profile
Thermoteknix designs, develops and manufactures thermal imaging and measuring equipment used in world-wide commercial systems, industrial, security and surveillance applications.
The company was founded in 1982 and retains its position at the forefront of the infrared imaging industry with a wide range of hardware and software products designed to meet the needs of a growing customer base.
The company is privately owned and operates from premises in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. It has been recognised by The Queen’s Awards both for Export and Innovation and is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Candidate profile
Due to expansion, Thermoteknix are looking to recruit an Engineering Manager with specific responsibility for NPI (New Product Introduction) to create and head up a dedicated engineering department.
The candidate should have a technical engineering background in any of mechanical, electronic or software engineering but must be fluent in how these combine in complex electrooptical designs for low volume, batch, production of high value products.
The candidate will have a role in recruiting technical people in each of the engineering disciplines and forming a coherent department to smooth the interface between R&D (product design) and production. The role will involve product design as well as providing ongoing support to maintain smooth production.
Work profile
As you will see on our company website, Thermoteknix has a very broad range of products in the small, handheld, camera market as well as established industrial products primarily in the cement manufacturing market. The company is punching above its weight in terms of speed of product development and flexibility in the market. There is pressure to hand over products to production at the earliest moment. The goal is to create a dedicated resource to transition products into production whilst also removing burden from production and R&D alike. It will demand a good communicator/organiser to service both these sets of internal “customers”.
Examples of activities undertaken by this department will include designing and introducing production processes and equipment to make and test new products, troubleshooting ongoing problems in production, requesting design changes to maintain and enhance production throughput.
Given it is a new department, there is anticipated to be a considerable need (and scope) for developing the responsibilities, culture, and organisation.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with 'A' level grades (A or B) and a suitable higher-level qualification, to degree standard, in a numerate discipline.
Skills and experience
Candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience in a production engineering environment, should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the technologies involved as well as a capacity to manage and motivate a team.
Benefits
