Newmarket horse racing. Newmarket is a town situated in Suffolk which has over 800-years tradition of horse racing. The beginnings of the sport in town trace back to 1174. In those days the town was referred to as Novum Forum (Latin for New Market).

Today the town is all about horses: horse racing, training and breeding (one in three jobs in town are connected with the horse racing). There are two race courses, large training grounds, horse auctions, racing stables, studs and National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket.
