False Widow Spider Bite

False Widow Spider

A couple of weeks back, Thermoteknix Marketing Manager Jez awoke to find a painful blister had appeared on his knuckle overnight.  This is the second time he has been bitten by a False Widow Spider while sleeping.  Poisonous False Widow Spiders are increasingly common in the UK and although not aggressive, they do tend to bite when they are inadvertently trapped or cornered. Taken with a Thermoteknix VisIR thermal imaging camera, this image shows clearly how inflammation raises the local body temperature of the skin/epidermis.

PS – he never did find the spider!
