Thermoteknix have unveiled their new 640x480 resolution MicroCAM thermal imaging core with 17micron pixel pitch at the SPIE Defense & Security Symposium in Orlando, Florida. Class-leading MicroCAM 640 draws <1.0W of power and weighs just 44g/1.55oz making it ideal for all low weight, low power consumption applications such as UAV’s.

Two models of the new high resolution core are available – one with a shutter (requiring a NUC/Non Uniformity Correction) and another version which utilises Thermoteknix’ patented XTi ® Shutterless Technology. This technology allows for a camera containing no moving parts which is completely silent in operation and requires no NUC, meaning there is no interruption to viewing.

MicroCAM is Thermoteknix’ range of ultra low-powered miniature thermal camera cores which also include 384x288 resolution models and which are incorporated in a number of Thermoteknix products including Clip On Thermal Imagers (ClipIR), handheld binocular devices (TiCAM) and a wealth of OEM products worldwide.
