WinStripЎ is a new infrared line scanning system purpose designed for on line process measurement in all types of hot rolling and annealing mills. This two-component system of a self-contained digital Centurion digital IR scanner and WinStripЎ software offers the most compact, reliable and efficient solution for accurate temperature profiling and long-term product Quality Assurance. WinStripЎ is a high speed, high resolution system offering an alternative approach to spot pyrometers which do not indicate the variations across the product that occur. True measurements to the product position and inaccuracies such as surface flaws and process irregularities, as well as temperature variations at the edges of products, can now be immediately recognised through WinStripЎ software, which presents live temperature data directly to the operator in the familiar Windows"! environment. Problems or process variation is detected instantaneously within a variety of displays allowing data to be analysed and full archiving facilities to be accessed in this state of the art Client / Server system. WinStripЎ records over 3 million spot temperatures per minute as product passes each Centurion digital IR scanner. With 1120 points per scan, product position can be traced and width can be measured with a resolution up to 1mm, depending on scanning geometry. Visual and automated alarms are configured to detect abnormal process conditions with output alarming and data transfer in a variety of formats. A series of specially developed templates, based on temperature distribution and statistics at critical positions on the product, provide a continuously tracked document of product quality. Encompassing a broad range of sensor inputs and data relating to each product, to archive and accommodate long term traceability, the self-contained WinStripЎ system may be fully integrated into Level I, II and III operations. WinStripЎ installations are based on providing the complete line with effective measurement tools. This is possible due to the Client / Server configuration, allowing data to be seen and evaluated independently at different stages along the mill. Multiple sources of input data relating to product ID can be accepted as product passes continuously down the mill and measurements are taken at different times. WinStripЎ organises all this data in its mass storage facility, ensuring it is all retained together in a single file, referenced to its product ID and indexed to the correct timings on the mill. As a result of its all digital design, the Centurion and WinstripЎ software are fully accessible for on-line engineering support from the manufactures, Thermoteknix Systems Ltd, whilst in place at any site.
